How to print and fold it
Plain printer paper works. Card stock in the 65 to 80 lb range feels like a store card and still feeds through most home printers.
Quarter-fold, 4.25 x 5.5 in
- Print the PDF on one side of a US Letter sheet at 100% scale ("Actual size", not "Fit to page").
- Fold the sheet in half from top to bottom, printed side out. The small marks at the edges show where.
- Fold it in half again so the front design faces out and the fold is on its left. Write inside, sign it, done.
Half-fold, 5 x 7 in
- Print both pages on one sheet, two-sided, at 100% scale, flipping on the short edge. No two-sided printing? Print page 1, then feed the same sheet back in for page 2. Try it on plain paper first to learn which way your printer feeds.
- Cut on the corner marks with scissors or a paper trimmer. You end up with a 10 x 7 inch piece.
- Fold it in half on the center marks. That is a 5 x 7 card for a standard A7 envelope.
Frequently asked questions
Is the card generator free?
Yes. Every design and both paper formats are free, with no account and no watermark.
What happens to what I type?
It stays on your device. The preview and the PDF are both made in your browser, so your names and message are never uploaded or stored by this site.
What paper should I use?
Any US Letter paper prints fine. Card stock around 65 to 80 lb feels like a store card and still feeds through most home inkjet and laser printers. Print at 100% scale so the fold marks land in the right place.
Which format should I pick?
The quarter-fold prints on one side of one sheet and folds twice into a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card, so it works on any printer. The 5 x 7 half-fold needs two-sided printing and one cut, and it gives you a bigger card that fits a standard A7 envelope.
Can I use emoji?
Not yet. The card fonts cover letters, numbers, punctuation and accented Latin letters, so the generator leaves out characters it cannot print and tells you which ones.
