Editorial Policy
How Funny Day Cards decides what goes on a card, and what we do when one misses.
Two kinds of words
On a ready-made card, the words are ours, and this policy covers them. In the card generator, the words are yours: it lays out exactly what you type and adds nothing of its own beyond the design and the occasion greeting.
Every joke is approved by a person
A ready-made card starts as a draft with a few options for the front and the inside. Beau Branton reads them, picks the one he would sign his own name to, edits the wording, and approves it. Drafts he does not pick are never published. A card goes live only from that approved copy, and an occasion page stays out of search results until its whole set is approved.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to brainstorm and draft options. They do not decide anything: a draft becomes a card only after Beau Branton has chosen and edited it. The card generator does not use AI.
What we will not print
- Jokes at someone's expense for who they are. We tease habits, not people.
- Lines lifted from other card companies, or meme formats passed off as new.
- Anything we would not hand to the person it is for.
Each card is labeled either safe for the office, or for someone who knows you well, so you can tell before you print.
Dates and updates
A page shows the date it was actually published. We never backdate a page, and we mark it as updated only when the cards or the advice on it changed in a way that matters.
Corrections
If a card has a typo, prints wrong, or a joke lands badly, we fix it or take it down.
Money
The site has no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsors today. If we ever add any, they will be labeled where they appear and they will not decide what we publish.
